A book to help Canadians with the introduction of metrification through a simple, clear and concise presentation of the metric system. Illustrated with diagrams, maps and line drawings the title also demonstrates how the imperial system is a strange synthesis of many diverse methods of calculation. The UK is used as a case study to illustrate how a nation can successfully transition through a similar process, and what changes and adjustments were to be expected.
The cover title is set in Avant Garde, occupying half the surface area, incorporating the use of Herb Lubalin’s overlapping alternates and ligatures. The remainder of the space is filled with Canadian flag and substitutes it’s left hand bar with a (metric) ruler to visually articulate the content.
