Voyageur Bus Lines (known simply as Voyageur) is a Canadian intercity bus company serving Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. What made the identity remarkable was its relationship to the brand’s most visible manifestation, the bus itself. It was not designed as a logo that would simply be applied to a bus, the bus itself became the primary identity, and the stripes were then applied to many different applications to unify the brand. Anthony Hobbs and Jean Morin developed the core identity together, and after Jean left the company, Anthony handled its full implementation. Speaking about the project, Hobbs said “Our mandate was to develop a unifying identity applied to the various companies that could promote the idea that travelling by bus was smart. The design concept evolved from the divided highway and the idea of travelling through the countryside with green fields and the blue sky.”
