A series of four text books that accompanied the teaching of science in Canadian schools from the start of Grade 7 (The Methods of Science 1) through to the end of Grade 10 (this edition). Each cover in the series uses a different background colour, over which illustrations depicting various scientific topics and techniques are laid.
Completing the series, this was the first book cover that Harder designed with a wraparound cover. As in The Methods of Science 3 it is divided into two halves – Physics and Biology, this time with Botany taking the place of Zoology from the previous book. Botany provides the green background colour on the cover plus the majority of the illustrations. Agriculture is covered extensively as well here, with a unit that covers eggs and chicks, the composition of milk and bee-keeping.
Due to the nature of these books they rarely survive without a great deal of punishment so we are fortunate to have a complete set in this condition.
