Bellemare was recommended to this client by a designer friend who felt he was more suitable to the task of designing their new logo. This new design was based on an earlier original that was unsuitable for use in different media and at varying scales. The logo combines 2 classic pharmaceutical icons; the Bowl of Hygeia and the green cross. The bowl contains a medicinal potion, which the serpent of wisdom is drinking from. The serpent is symbolic of resurrection, and the bowl symbolic of health and medicine.
Raymond was working at Guy Lalumière Studio at the time, however this job was completed as a private commission. Raymond was keen to have as many of his own clients as possible before eventually setting up on his own, which he did the following year, as Raymond Bellemare Designers Inc. At time of publication the logo is still used by the organization, although there appears to be a little modification to the proportions of the elements and an update to the tone of green (www.opq.org).
