Roch’s classic identity for the National Arts Centre in Ottawa consists of a single line forming 3 interlocking hexagons. The design, referred to as a ‘signet’, reflects the hexagonal architecture of the theatre centre itself, and the 3 interlocking forms represent the three theaters as well as the three branches of performance art – music, drama and dance. The implementation of the fuller identity and its application was handled with Rolf Harder under their studio Design Collaborative.
In 2014 the National Arts Centre organization replaced this iconic logo, to coincide with future changes to the building and a conscious shift away from the strong associations to it encapsulated in the brand identity.
