The joy of the metric system lies in its simplicity and universality. For many, this informational booklet (5th edition) would have been a helpful guide in their transition to the International System of Units. SI (metric) is founded on seven base units: meter for length, kilogram for mass, second for time, ampere for electric current, kelvin for thermodynamic temperature, mole for amount of substance and candela for luminous intensity. It is these units which form the basis of this 20 page bilingual guide — along with examples of their use in written sentence form.

The design of the cover (one side English, the other French) divides the surface area into equally spaced segments, each relating to the width and angle of the Metric Commission symbol in the top right hand corner. 4 primary units of measurements are each inset within these segments, providing a sense of their relationship to space, distance and each other. For economy, the cover stock is printed in green and black  ink only. The inside text pages limited to black ink only. Helvetica is used throughout.
