Written by Jean Cléo Godin and Laurent Mailhot, this book introduces 10 contemporary playwrights from Quebec: Marcel Dubé, Réjean Ducharme, Jacques Ferron, Gratien Gélinas, Eloi de Grandmont, Anne Hérbert, Jacques Landuirand, Françoise Loranger, Yves Thériault and Michel Tremblay. The book aimed to reinforce the strength that had been achieved in recent years, while also addressing a broad range of themes and subjects in the name of freedom.
The cover design is by Robert Gilles and Raymond Bellemare, during a period when Gilles was establishing himself as an Art Director. It employs a bold geometric composition that visualizes growth and strength, while also representing the view towards a stage. Quebec blue serves as the foundation of the design.
