During the second half of 1975, and in preparation for the Summer Olympic Games the following year, Montréal staged a series of sporting events known as ‘International Competitions’. These events would offer the organizers the experience of testing equipment, familiarizing their staff with the staging of such events, the presentation of Olympic sports to the public, and the preparation of Canadian officials for the Olympics.

As part of the identity for the International Competitions, there were a series of stylized, illustrated designs created by Montréal studio Cabana Séguin, each depicting one of the 18 events being staged. These designs were used to promote the games, as well as raising awareness of the individual events to Quebec residents. This poster for Boxing however, was used in the marketing and ticketing of the actual events. The design employs a typographic treatment consistent with all materials (set in Univers), and the bottom third depicts a boxing fight, in a pointalized halftone effect for dramatic impact. The entire design is printed primarily in black ink, with a hit of red red reserved solely for the M75 logo.
