The Canadian Film Institute (CFI) is the oldest film institution in Canada and the second oldest film institute in the world. This catalogue, written only in French, lists ‘art’ films available in their collection at that time. Supporting technical information accompanies each entry, together with the relevant fees for showing the title. Titles are separated into two subsets, Canadian and International productions.
The cover design employs an interesting Op art approach. The two facing triangles of banded colour (green and blue) are evocative of movie theatre broadcasting. They project towards one another and merge to form a central diamond at their intersection. Supporting typography appears to be Aurora Grotesk Extra Condensed by C.E. Weber (Stuttgart).
The cover is printed to the front face only, and the inside text section is produced in a more standardized, typed layout, printed in black ink only.
