Trade advertisement for Toronto and Montréal based typographers Cooper & Beatty in Canadian Art, November 1960 — a special issue on Architecture and Allied Arts. Clearly targeted at prospective architectural clients, the ad utilizes the letter ‘A’ (Architecture / Allied / Arts) to convey both the typographic craft and an architectural form of experimentation, albeit in a simplistic fashion. Design is undertaken by Jim Donoahue who created a substantial amount of work of this nature for Cooper & Beatty during this era. At this time Canadian Art was produced under ‘Managing Editor’, Paul Arthur.
Clearly referenced in the contact information wihin the ad, Allan Fleming was the primary contact in Toronto and John Gibson in the Montréal office.
