Designed around a hexagonal form that combines the scales of justice over a pen nib that is flanked on either side by simple forms representing the two parties involved in a legal contract. The whole identity then provides a literal illustration of the essential components in every legal contract, with a central theme of harmony, balance, clarity and understanding. The launch document for the identity provided the following context (translated from its original French): “The notary ensures the balance and agreement between the contracting parties through the interrelation of their knowledge of law and their duty of advice and impartiality.”
