During the 1970s and 1980s, in Post Offices across the country, Canada Post produced and displayed point-of-sale posters to promote new Canadian stamps. This poster was issued on the release of the first set of stamps to promote the Games of the XXI Olympiad Montréal. The poster features 2 stamp designs, designed by Toronto based designer Alois Matanovic, both of which were released on 20 September 1973. The stamps incorporate Georges Huel’s symbol for the games, along with a rainbow-like gradient (colours which were individually used as part of the games’ corporate identity) embedded within the symbols, one on a silver, and one on a gold metallic background.
