A series of stamps designed and photographed by Webber as part of the Arts & Culture Programme for the XXI Olympiad in Montréal, 1976. The three stamps feature still life photographic compositions covering different facets of the arts and culture programme, namely communications (20¢) handicrafts (25¢) and performing arts (50¢). In addition a hand drawn icon for each subject matter is used to create an overarching image for the First Day Cover, depicting a roll of film, a jug and a French horn.
Toronto-based Ray Webber was commissioned to design the stamps thanks to his specialism in illustrative photography. Each of the carefully detailed compositions features a range of items relevant to the topic which are then thrown into relief by the subtle shades of the backgrounds.
