Comment

An anthology of prose selections, designed for intermediate school grades, especially chosen to hold student interest as well as to stimulate appreciation of fine literature. Content includes humour, tragedy, fantasy and adventure with styles ranging from the austere prose of Frederick Phillip Grove to the easy, colloquial narrative of William Saroyan. The exceptionally varied selection was intended to provide both teacher and class with a wide range of reference and inspiration.

The cover design depicts an opened ‘packet’ in the form of a box / container, its lid positioned at the top half and its base at the lower. Its fluted appearance beautifully, and simply, achieved by offsetting proportionate linear steps to the packet’s sides. The use of ITC’s Century Light Italic, contained in the lid makes for an arresting juxtaposition. The outer cover is printed onto a fine linen board in black and mustard Pantone inks whilst the text pages are black and white only.
